It’s only been weeks since it came to light that Billy Ray Cyrus and wife Firerose would be getting a divorce, but already damning new information is coming to light.
We reported last week how Billy Ray – father to Grammy award-winning singer Miley Cyrus, 31, and 24-year-old Noah Cyrus – had filed for divorce from Firerose after less than a year of marriage. The couple tied the knot back in October of 2023, but it appears as though that was a decision made in considerable haste.
In his filing, Cyrus cited irreconcilable differences, as well as “inappropriate marital conduct” as the reasons for the breakdown of the union.
For her part, Firerose has been active in lashing out at Billy Ray. Earlier today we reported how she had registered court documents of her own after Billy Ray filed for divorce, accusing Cyrus of being emotionally, psychologically and verbally abusive toward her during their time together.
In the court documents, Firerose went into detail describing the allegations against her husband, alleging that Cyrus engaged in “intentional infliction of emotional distress for his financial abuse.” She went on to say there was an “intentional delay of [her] long-planned surgery.” She then clarified that the surgery in question was a preventative double mastectomy.
Fresh information, however, sees Cyrus accusing Firerose – real name Johanna Rosie Hodges – of “isolating” him from his family.
Cyrus supplied the information on Monday (June 17) to go with his initial filing, made on May 23.
In court documents obtained by PEOPLE Magazine, Cyrus is said to have “discovered that the Defendant [Firerose], unknowingly to Plaintiff [Cyrus], blocked at least one (1) of his daughters from being able to contact him on his phone(s) or electronic devices.”
The court documents did not reveal which of Billy Ray’s daughter’s Firerose reportedly tried to separate him from, but it’s clear that he is unequivocally serious in his wish to divorce. As well as his filing, Cyrus also requested a temporary restraining order, accusing the 36-year-old Firerose of “unauthorized” use of his credit card totaling close to $100,000.
“To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue,” Firerose’s attorneys said in response.
“Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”
