The “imminent” separation of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck could have long-standing ramifications for the former beyond the heartbreak of divorce.
That’s according to Millionaire Matchmaker‘s Patti Stanger, who believes J-Lo will be left “depressed” and looking for love in the wrong places when her relationship with Affleck comes to what’s looking like an inevitable end.
63-year-old Stanger is the CEO of matchmaking service Millionaire’s Club International, and rose to relative fame with a reality TV show on Bravo in 2008, offering her talents to help individuals find love.
As a result, she’s well placed to share her thoughts on the marital woes of Affleck and Lopez, who are reportedly edging towards the end of their marriage.
Speculation has been rampant of late suggesting that the A-list couple have become estranged from one another. Affleck is said to have moved out of the couple’s $60 million home and has been seen on multiple occasions without his wedding ring.
Lopez, meanwhile, sensationally canceled her planned tour of North America, citing a need to be close to her family. And if that wasn’t enough, reports last week detailed how the pair have put their Beverly Hills home up for sale only a year after its purchase.
It doesn’t take Nostradamus to see that things aren’t all sunshine and roses where ‘Bennifer’ are concerned. And if indeed the superstars do part, Millionaire Matchmaker’s Patti Stanger claims that J-Lo will be left worse off.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: “It’s much easier for the guy to get [a woman], so JLo’s probably going to be really depressed to try to date someone else. “There’s not enough quality men for women.”
Stanger went on to blame male egos, stating: “[Men] are spoiled, their egos get inflated and men age better.”
Last week it was claimed that close friends of Affleck fear that he has started “drinking again” amidst the whirlwind of speculation.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, one near friend of Affleck’s has said that the superstar actor is suffering from “acute sadness” following reports that his marriage is on the rocks. Other sources close to the 51-year-old suggested he was either “at risk” of slipping off the wagon, or is “already back on the booze”.
“I hear that he is drinking. He is full of demons – a really troubled person,” one friend told the Daily Mail. A second added: “I have seen him looking glassy eyed and it is a real worry to everyone who cares about him.”
Affleck and Lopez tied the knot at a secret Las Vegas ceremony in 2022, going on 20 years since their first attempt at romance failed. The pair became one of the high-profile couplings of the early 2000s, only to call off their engagement and move on to find new partners.
Fans were hopeful of a fairytale ending when Affleck and Lopez reunited, but if the current speculation proves true, their union will find itself amongst the plethora of Hollywood romances that have ended in tumult.
