The couple are in Nigeria for three days after being invited by the chief of the defence staff and are also there to promote their work.
A key sign that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still cashing in on their Royal Family ties has been spotted in newly released photos of the couple in Nigeria.
The images were snapped during a ceremonial event at the Nigerian Defence Headquarters in the country’s capital of Abuja.
The couple’s chairs were labelled with “Duke” and “Duchess” as opposed to their first names. They have already come under fire for a similar move when they launched their new website Sussex.com.
Harry and Meghan tried to move away from their titles in 2020, after stepping down as senior working royals and relocating to the US to carve out careers away from the monarchy.
Now, it appears they are cashing in on their Royal Family ties to help boost their own brand.
Royal expert Robert Jobson quipped to the Daily Express: “They seem to be clinging on to the very same thing they have been trashing. Why can’t they just be themselves?”
The couple are currently in Nigeria for three days to promote their work with the Invictus Games and spent time earlier today with Nigeria Unconquered, which complies for the country’s Invictus Games team.
Later on, Meghan will co-host a Women in Leadership event with Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director general of the World Trade Organization.

Harry and Meghan also watched a game of sitting volleyball, before Harry was invited to play with the team.
He participated in a few rounds of the game and joined in with the team’s war cry before speaking with families and friends of the athletes.
