People Are Saying Doja Cat Should Be Banned From Met Gala After She Showed Up In A Wet T-Shirt

Doja Cat’s look for the 2024 Met Gala has sparked quite the debate among her fans, with some suggesting she should be “banned” from future events.

She made a memorable entrance at last year’s Met Gala, where she paid homage to Karl Lagerfield’s beloved cat, Choupette.

This left many eagerly anticipating what she would choose to wear to this year’s gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York.

This year, the theme was “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story.

The exhibit was titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and for this, the musician opted for an unusual ensemble.

She appeared in what seemed to be a set comprising a towel wrapped around her body and another on her head, suggesting she’d just stepped out of the shower, along with a wet, oversized T-shirt.

In her first outfit, Doja really looked as if she had just walked out of the bathroom and onto the red carpet.

To complete her look, she wore makeup that appeared to have run down her face, though she had managed to slip into some platform heels.

Her second outfit revealed Doja, whose full name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, sans the towel.

Instead, she sported a soaking wet, oversized T-shirt and had removed the hair towel to reveal her bleached blonde hair.

It didn’t take long for people to start discussing her choice of attire on social media.

One user on X commented: “If this is her only outfit then don’t invite Doja Cat next year. Take note Anna Wintour. Didn’t you ban her from Met Gala last year?”

“Looks like she’s never getting invited again, I fear,” remarked another.

A third voiced their opinion, saying: “Doja cat should be banned from the #metgala if this is the final look…”

Another was quite blunt: “Doja Cat – I would’ve sent her home and banned her from all future Met Galas for wearing this nonsense 0/10.”

However, there were also those who admired her daring fashion choice.

A user praised her, writing: “She has a mind like Gaga when it comes to fashion and performative art pieces fr.

“Like, this is far from being the most opulent outfit there, but she just constantly thinks outside the box. I always respect her artistic vision and talent.”

In a discussion with Entertainment Tonight, the singer explained her thought process behind the look.

She shared: “So, I know that people are going to do flowers but my flower of choice is the most used flower which is cotton.

“And so I wanted to do a white T-shirt, also because a white T-shirt is timeless and it felt very poetic to choose this.

“And I knew it wasn’t going to blend in too much and I don’t really like to blend in. So, we went with this.”

You really can’t argue with her reasoning, can you?

Doja also made it clear that she was ‘actually wet’ while sporting the look, with her team using hair gel all over her body.
