Amid all the turbulence and worry facing the British Royal Family at the moment, Prince William and Kate Middleton are trying to extend an olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
That’s according to a new report in the Daily Mirror, who say the Prince and Princess of Wales are open to ending the ongoing feud that has tarnished the once ironclad bond between William and Harry.
Relations have been strained between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the royals since their decision to leave The Firm behind and move to the USA, and the sorry saga has been regularly punctuated by the pair’s efforts to speak out about the troubling experiences they claim to have suffered in the UK.
First came the explosive, tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry and Meghan broke new ground in openly criticizing the former’s family, making a number of worrying accusations that threatened to severely damage the Royal Family’s integrity and reputation.
Following that was the Sussex’s candid Netflix documentary, and last year came Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare.
To say that bridges have been burned is an understatement. As stands tensions are well past the point of running high, with various reports over the last few weeks insisting that the royals no longer trust Harry and Meghan.
Yet royal author and expert Tom Quinn has reportedly told the Daily Mirror that William and Kate are of a mind to end the feud once and for all, and to that end reached out to Harry and Meghan urging them to bring their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK for a visit.
Quinn went on to reveal, however, that Meghan flatly refused.
“There is no way Meghan would bring the children to the UK,” Quinn said, as per the Mirror.
“William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far.”
The last time Archie and Lilibet traveled to their father’s homeland was for the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, and it’s said the children have spent limited time with their family across the Atlantic.
The Sussexes were due to travel to the UK as a family in September of 2022, but in the end the trip fell through amid safety concerns after Harry and Meghan were denied security by RAVEC (the Royal and VIP Executive Committee).
Harry made a fleeting visit to the UK earlier this year after King Charles’s cancer diagnosis, but there was no reunion between he and his brother William. Reports suggested last month that William would not look to meet with his younger sibling when Harry flies in for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in May either.
Insiders told the Telegraph that with both Charles and Kate Middleton fighting respective cancer battles, the “Harry problem” was the last thing on William’s mind.
