It was a family affair for Richard Gere when he stepped out at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday, May 17.
The actor, 74, was joined by his wife, Alejandra Silva and his eldest son, Homer. The appearance marked one of the rare occasions the father and son duo have appeared in public together.
Homer James Jigme Gere, whom he shares with his second wife Carey Lowell, walked the red carpet alongside his father in support of his new film Oh, Canada.
Both Richard and Homer looked handsome in their near-matching tuxedos, while Alejandra’s black gown embroidered with pink florals complemented their looks.
The trio was again photographed later that night at an afterparty celebrating the premiere of the film.
Although Richard has established himself as a leading man and sex symbol, according to him, his children are unaware of the magnitude of his accomplishments.
In April, Richard spoke with Vanity Fair Spain sharing how his family rarely watches new movies.
“The truth is we don’t go out much. We have three small children. An 11-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 4-year-old,” he told Vanity Fair.
The actor shares two sons with wife Alejandra. She also has a third son from a previous relationship.
“So around 9:30 at night, we are all asleep. If we watch something, it will be on the big television we have at home.”
Not even Homer is aware of his father’s success.
“He doesn’t understand it,” Richard said. “And it is also very difficult for him to see me on the screen because even if I play an extreme character, I am still his father and it is difficult for him to get into the story.”
“As it happens, he just started acting too. He has suddenly become interested and seems to enjoy it. He’s been writing and directing little movies, so we have this new thing in common.”
I think their family looks gorgeous. It’s great to see Homer photographed alongside his father!
